Life is a natural cycle of giving and receiving. When we fail to give, we break the cycle and make receiving unnatural.
In The Book of Secrets: Unlocking the Hidden Dimensions of Your Life, Deepak Chopra looks at the way cells behave in our bodies. The functioning of cells within the organism is no different from the way all life functions, and we are like individual cells within the larger human body. Looking at the natural functioning of life provides an excellent model for how we are meant to live.
Cells must fulfill their function or parish. For cells, selfishness is not an option. Withdrawing, or refusing to communicate, is not an option. Going it alone is not an option. Being aggressive is not an option. Being an outcast is not an option. Over-consumption is not an option. Cells that take on these traits will either parish or become cancerous; ultimately destroying the entire organism.
When we imitate the behavior of healthy cells, we thrive and experience natural abundance. The more perfectly we are connected to the entire organism, the better we serve humanity and nurture the planet. This is our natural state, and living from this place brings the beautiful energy and the feeling of bliss that comes from simply being alive. Do not let the world tell you that selfishness, greed, aggression, anger, and snobbery is in any way desirable or is an expression of freedom.
Life is filled with endless paradoxes, and one of them is this: freedom and abundance is found in service, in giving, in creating. Living in alignment with life itself is freedom. Be life and everything flows naturally. We continue tomorrow and each day after that.
