Something happens to you. Then the voice in your head judges the event as good or bad. You like it or can’t deal with it. It goes to your head or you seek escape. Your emotions take over and your head begins to spin with insane thoughts.
This is how your ego tricks you into believing that it is real, that the ego is your identity, that you must believe in it and obey it. When something happens that attacks your ego, you then consider it bad. When something boosts the ego, you then consider it good. As a result, your life is a roller-coaster of ups and downs (mostly downs). You believe you will be happy someday, when you have everything you desire. But the ego’s mantra is “seek but do not find.” No ego has ever attained lasting happiness.
By giving your ego control, you are assuring yourself of ongoing suffering and misery—which is only temporarily relieved by moments of escape inevitably bound to collapse. This is what the ego does. To find what you seek, it is necessary to escape the ego entirely. This is the only path toward happiness, true success, abundance, love and inner peace.
Instant and eternal happiness is found in inner freedom from external conditions. This is inner peace. Freedom from external conditions. Whatever happens in the world, whatever happens to you, it doesn’t touch you. You know who you truly are and you cannot be threatened. From this viewpoint, your life flows differently.
Now you accept, then act. Now you have made the present moment your friend and ally, not your enemy. Whatever is happening is happening. It is supposed to be happening because it is happening. You can learn to accept it without judgement or negative thoughts—which lead to fear and ego-dominance.
By escaping the ego, you are untouched and are living in a state of inner peace. Now, you can easily understand the reality of what is happening and react to it. Not because it matters all that much what the outcome is, but because the purpose of your life is to spread love, peace, and consciousness. By responding from this place, this is what you do as effortlessly as breathing. We continue tomorrow and each day after that.
It is as it is.
