Whoever can see through all fear will always be safe. (Tao Te Ching)

The mind may tell us that a fearful response is sometimes rational, necessary or helpful. In truth, fear is your mind taking full control of you. In the state of fear, we make a thought so real that the normal functioning of our bodies is overcome by panic and paralysis.

The heart rate accelerates. There is a sickness in the stomach. The fearful can’t eat, can’t sleep, can’t focus, can’t learn and can’t respond. Fear is the cause of suffering, illness, and stress. Here there is nothing anyone would want.

To respond to fear is to cause problems. We attack, we defend ourselves, we wrong others, we make enemies. These self-created problems now give us further reason to fear, and the vicious cycle continues.

Escape from fear is the knowing that you are not your mind. There is a higher, universal intelligence beyond the mind. Nature brings us exactly what we need and none of it is to be feared. Intuition effortlessly nudges us toward the optimal response every time.

Let the mind have a say, but then shift faith away from the mind and into love. The right response is always the loving response. In love, we will always be safe. We continue tomorrow and each day after that.
